Baltic hitch-hikers meeting

First time in a hitch-hiking history Baltic hitch-hikers' meeting will take place on 27-29 June 2003 in Seaside Camping (Piejuras Kempings), Ventspils, Latvia. It will be organized in a framework of Baltic tourists' meeting, which take place every two years in a different Baltic country. Participants may come on 27 evening already.

Exact place: Seaside Camping (Piejuras kempings), Vasarnicku st. 56 (3 km from city centre), Ventspils, Latvia (on north-western coast of Latvia on 57˚23'06" N and 21˚32'46" E). Distance from Vilnius (LT) - 400 km, from Tallinn (EST) - 500 km, from Minsk (BY) - 600 km, from Saint Petersburg (RUS) - 700 km, from Warsaw (PL) - 750 km.

Program:
Opening of the meeting 28 June 10 am.
Begining of all competitions 28 June 11 am.
Evening program (concert, fire, dances) 28 June 8 pm.
Contests (videofilms, photo) 28 June 10 pm.
Individual competitions for everyone (tourism technics, bycycling, autoslalom) 29 June
Possibilities of travel in Ventspils Region and travel objects in Ventspils 29 June, 10 am.
Meeting of Baltic countries tourism veterans 29 June 9 am.
Conference on development of active tourism in Baltic countries 29 June 9 am.
Meeting winners awards and closing of the meeting 29 June 2 pm.

Cultural program: observing of tourists' competition (auto, bicycling, mountaineering, kayaking), unlimited communication, expirience exchange, songs at the fire, dances, travel stories.

Camping:
Hitch-hikers will have their own part of the camp in this event. Look for yellow color, which will indicate where hitch-hikers are. Participating is free. Participants should have their tents, sleeping bags, etc. Also it is possible to sleep in camping houses for additional fee. Food could be prepared just on primuses, gas stove or camping service house kitchen. All camping equipement could be rented in a camping - tents, camping houses, garden furniture, a ball, bicycle, etc. Distance to the beach - 200 m, distance to the shoping centre - 700 m.
