  1. Steffl shop in Kartenstr. 19. The 5th floor. Amadeus media cafe. There are 7 computers and usually you should wait for your turn. Open every work-day 9:30 - 19:00. On Saturdays - until 16:00. On Tuesday it is closed after lunch. Last checked: 12 August 2000
  2. Cross-road of Neubaugasse and Mariahilferstrasse streets (Mariahilferstrasse  goes from Westbahnhof). Near a bank there is an info-stand. On it you can create your own e-mail box 24 h/day for free. Last checked: April 2000

Estonia

Saareme island

In Kurresaare town there is a castle. Going from the castle cross the bridge (starting from the corner of small tower). Shortly after you will approach a park, on which opposite side there is a road landmark with a “@” symbol and pointer. So, in that house you will find 8 computers connected to Internet. It seems to be for free.

  1. In Elysees walking from Arc de Triomphe on the left side there is an enormous parfume & cosmetics store. In the end of that store there are 3-4 PCs.
  2. Walking down Avenue des Champs from Arc de Triomphe on the right side there is TOYOTA sales center. On the 2nd floor there is a cafe and 6 PCs. Last checked: April 2000

University Library in any city where there is an university - in a lot of cases you have access without a reader's card.

Berlin

Postdammer Plaza (not far from the Bradenburg Gates). In the Plaza, huge construction is taking place, and on one side there is a big red “infobox” cabin. It should not be difficult to notice. On the first floor of the cabin (not counting the ground floor), there are two computers connected to Internet and one can use them for free. A disadvantage is that you will have to wait for at least an hour to get a computer vacated, and having got that you can use only Netscape; there is no Telnet.

30th June, 2001: well, I saw no red infobox, but I found there a cafe called "Trade-In" - two fast PCs, very few people at least at day time. Free Internet, but you may be asked to buy a drink (3-4 DM).

HAMBURG

Walking from Hauptbahnhofo (central railway station) to Hauptbhnhof ZOB (central bus station). You can walk through the Adenaujer allee. The street will turn to the right, you will face the crossroad and behind it you'll see big red builing and rusted monument. Internet cafe is in this building. It is written "Arbeitsamt" on this building

Amsterfoort

Next (5 minutes by walk) to the station there is a public library. Here in the 3rd floor you will find free-Internet access. How to find library you can ask in the VVV (tourism information) in the station building.

You could use Internet for half an hour in libriry "De Amicis", Porto Antico area. But you should order before.
How to find:
if going so, that the water is on the right side of you from the modern art construction in this port, you'll see a wall with very colourfull writings: Cita dei bambini, Cineplex, Music store, Biblioteca de amicis and others. The door of library is next to the door of the music store. The third floor.

There is one more library ("Berio") in Seminario street (in via Fieschi there is a music store "Ricordi records" - just in front of it starts little street of Seminario). They also probably has free Internet access (information was not checked).


Latvia

Dormitories at Lauvas 2, room 330 "TSR", sort of Internet cafe. Working hours 900 - 2400. Ph: 7701115. They have 6 PCs at a price 0.60 USD/hour.

Town library, Atbrivoshanas st. 91, 2nd floor. Latvian - Norvegian cooperation bureau. Actually they charge 0.30 USD/hour, but if you ask, the access may be provided for free.

Oslo

Apart from Deichmanske library, which actually suxx(time limit 15 min; MAC PC,quene usually and ve-e-ery slow connect), there's a 3 tiny PC right at oslo cetral railway station! go to the 2nd floor, look for narvesen koisk near tourist info, or ask'em. if someone's on, remind him how its important to be polite and helpful to travellers no chairs though :(

Sarpsborg

There is some town (http://www.borgdest.no/indexe.htm - you can check the map) on the road E6 from Oslo (about 100km) down to Sweden (about 20-30km to the border). One library is very close to ESSO petrol station, the other other one is inte the center near the church. You can ask the woman at the tourist info office. Library is about 3 houses from the tourist info. It seems that in the summertime it works till every other day till 4PM. You can book the time. Also there are some games CD - you can play. And everything for FREE!

Scandinavia

In all Scandinavia, computers connected to Internet can be found in libraries. Don’t be afraid: usually you won’t be asked for reader’s card. Simply, having entered a library, look for computer, wait until it is abandoned and send messages for your friends. Also there are many accessible computers in universities and other educational institutions. It is only important not to get under suspicion rushing around the building.


Slovenia

Lubliana

Student's club "k4" - it is known for every young person. It is near the railway station, in the street with a name something like "ke-ke", No 4. Before the 30th of June open until 1500. It is closed during the summer. In the rest time of the year open all days, except evenings when there is some events. It is not recomended to go there on Sunday evenings.

There are 5 computers with access to Internet in the lobby in the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics of Lubliana University. There is some discomfort:

  • there are no chairs and one will not write much standing;

  • the computers are filmed by camera and observed.

The best time to go there is in the study time when there are many students, and better do not to take a rucksack. If they identify you to be a foreigner, you probably will not be allowed to use computers for long.  Look for the Faculty in Trzaska street.

Koper

Pina Galery. Address - Gregorciceva 6. Near the cross-road of Gallusova and Sabinijeva streets. There is some kind of organization.

Sweden

near Odeshog

Highway E4 from Stockholm to Helsingborg. The petrol station itself is called Ostgotaporten, OK Q8 - do not mix it up with the opposite one there called PREEM. There is a restaurant called DINERS. You can find there three fast Internet PC's und use them free without time limit.

When you come to the city go to the central post office. There are 3 PC's and one of them is connected to the Internet.

You can use free Internet in the central post office, which is located on the opposite side of street from the Saint-Francois (the main spot of public transport).


United Kingdom

Public libraries in the UK are all connected to the Internet, and everyone can get email access. The only restriction is time, here in Ipswich the system kicks you out after 30 minutes, but if there is noboby waiting, I can logon again immediately.
