VHHC member Andžej Miloš and 2 tourists Tomas&Vika hitch-hiked to see autumn L.Tatras mountains in Slovakia. On the way back home he participate in general HC member and hitchhikers meeting in Warsaw, PL. Trip route: Vilnius - Warszawa (PL) - Katowice - Česky Tešin (CZ) - Brno - Prerov - Považska Bystrica (SK) - Žilina - Česky Tešin (CZ) - Krakow (PL) - Warszawa - Vilnius.

Starts Dainius expedition to Africa. Trip goal: to reach all 4 extreme projections of the Africa ( westernmost point in Senegal, Southernmost in RSA, easterly point in Somalia (Puntland) and northernmost in Tunisia. Dainius intend to visit 30 to 40 countries, travel overland through Sachara, get deep into jungles in Central Africa, catch chameleons in Madagascar, follow the footsteps of Livingstone and Stanley at the Tanganyika lake, run marathon around Mt. Kilimanjaro. Follow his trip at his website.

The 10th anniversary of Vilnius Hitch-hiking Club took place in bar "Paparazzi", Vilnius on October 5 (Thursday) and country tourism site "Puozas" in Kupiskis distric on October 6-8 (weekend). On Thursday there were about 70 participants of the celebration and on weekend - 64 hitch-hikers from Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Great Britain, Australia, France and Italy.
On Thursday evening 3 special anniversary awards were issued: for Augustas Kligys (for the longest distance hitch-hiked with the Club), Dainius Kinderis (for the largest number of countries hitch-hiked with the Club) and Vladas Sapranavicius (for the longest period of time hitch-hiked with the Club).
Also for the first time in the club's history , even 3 non-members of the club were honoured with a name of corresponding member of the club. These 3 people are: Rytis Alekna, Aivaras Cibulskas and Alexander Netuzhilov.
During the weekend celebration the traditional annual awards were issued for best female hitch-hiker of the year (Katja Lachman) and best male hitch-hiker of the year (Dainius Kinderis). It should be admitted, that Dainius Kinderis has received this award for the 3rd time already (year 2003, 2005 and 2006). It is the first time in the club's history when someone is awarded for the 3 times with this award.

Robert Prins, most experienced member of the club, has celebrated his 250.000 km mark. He has reached this result after the recent trip from Ipswich (GB) to Vilnius.

VHHC members Andrius/Gvazi and Vita hitch-hiked in Georgia and Eastern Turkey. Trip route: Tbilisi(GEO) - Gudauri - Gori - Kutaisi - Poti - Ureki - Kobuleti - Batumi - Hopa(TR) - Artvin - Tortum - Oltu - Ardahan - Posof - Vale(GEO) - Borjomi - Bakuriani - Tbilisi.

Lithuanian Hitch-hiking Gathering took place on 23-26 June in natural surrounding of Alytus, Lithuania. Even 24 participants from Lithuania, Finland, Germany and Russia took part in this great meeting!

The 11th annual public hitchhiking competition "Baltics 2006" were organized in Lithuania and Latvia. Competition started in Vilnius. 19 pairs of participants took part in this event.
Winners of the 1st place are Agne Sinkeviciute ir Mindaugas Mejeras, 2nd - Mindaugas Gofmanas ir Sigita Kursaityte, 3rd place - Justas Kaveckas ir Aiste Laurinaityte. Congratulations for winners!

VHHC member Giedrius Semaska hitch-hiked to Germany. Trip route: Kaunas (LT) - Poznan (PL) - Berlin (D) -Rostock (D) Greifswald (D) and back: Greifswald (D) Berlin (D) Kaunas (LT). This was first our club's member trip 2006.
